adopts more new regulations: Are you impacted?Attend the January 21 MCCV meeting and find out A number of environmental policy initiatives emerged from the most recent California legislative session, many of which became effective the first of the year and will impact MCCV member companies. To help its member companies better prepare and respond, the Manufacturers Council of the Central Valley has invited Gary Lucks JD, CPEA, a principal environmental attorney and scientist with Beyond Compliance to provide a compliance update at the Wednesday, Jan 21, 2009 MCCV Meeting. The presentation is scheduled for 8:45 to 9:45a.m (the meeting begins at 8:30 and will conclude no later than 11:30 a.m.) No pre-registration is required. See below for more details. |

January Meeting Special Presentation: What the Legislative Update Covers The legislative and regulatory update covers new state and federal environmental legislation as well as relevant regulatory developments. It will also reveals some important compliance implications for commercial and industrial organizations as well as state and local government entities. Who Is Gary Lucks Lucks serves as a regulatory compliance and sustainability specialist where he advises clients on multi-media environmental audits, environmental permitting, training, and regulatory analysis, and multimedia environmental management systems (EMS). He serves on the California State Bar Environmental Legislation Committee and has published numerous articles. Beyond Compliance LLC bridges EH&S compliance counseling with sustainability principles. Beyond Compliance is a consulting organization designed to help industry transition from a regulatory compliance model to one of sustainability where pollution prevention and concepts of sustainability improve performance and reduce the costs of doing business while exceeding command and control environmental compliance standards. |

Careers in Manufacturing high school outreach program
enters fifth year: More employer partners sought Join with other north valley manufacturing firms and seize the initiative to demonstrate to young people that there are exciting career opportunities at manufacturing firms in their own communities: sign up now to participate in the 2009 Careers in Manufacturing.

PARTICIPATE, YOU NEED TO:
Several
changes have been made this to help make this process easier for both
employers and students and to ensure that the students local firms select
for interviews have not already been hired! A new tracking system is in
place to provide more reliable feedback and to help transition this into a
year-round program. This year the program is expanding and includes all
Stanislaus County public high schools .In the future, it is hoped this
pilot will pave the way for expansion of the program into other valley
counties.
There are
eight evening outreach or "Road Show" events planned between January 21
and March 31 to help reach students and parents as to the career
opportunities and educational pathways in manufacturing. You can be part
